Knit a Clanger!

Womble-CoverThe Clangers – knitted pink creatures that live in outer space on a blue planet for those who don’t know – are the creation of  Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin.
In the mid 1960’s the BBC commissioned them both to create a new series of films using puppets, that would appeal to the young ‘space age’ generation, and ingeniously they came up with the Clangers and their friends the Soup Dragon, the Iron Chicken and the Froglets.
They also created Ivor the Engine, The Pogles and the Saga of Noggin the Nog – but to my knowledge, there are no knitting patterns for these characters…

If you buy this little book (published by Collins & Brown at £9.99), you can recreate and “Own a slice of British television history!”

There are not only knitting patterns for each member of the Clanger family and the Soup Dragon, but also detailed step by step instructions for building the Clangers set: a blue planet, the music boat, a rocket and much more besides…

You can find out more about The Clangers here and Noggin the Nog from the Northlands here
