Here are the Folk Star Mittens in another colour way.
Just as before, they are knitted in Riihivilla’s beautiful, pure wool, Aarni, but this time the background is a soft, natural brown and the pattern is in a natural white, a very soft orange (dyed with mushrooms) and there are tiny highlights of soft yellow (dyed with goldenrod).
Riihivila is a small family business in Finland that produces wonderful yarns using wool from their own Finn Sheep flocks. Available in gentle, natural and plant and mushroom dyed shades, the Aarni yarn is a joy to knit with: it is soft and yielding and arrives with a reassuring whiff of sheep. It is a yarn that has been produced with care from sheep to hank and it will make the most precious and cosseting of projects for both adults and children.

The original colour way was inspired by Nordic, winter pink sunsets – and in particular this sunset that we saw in Helsinki last year.
It was freezing cold and we were able to walk out on the frozen sea…
