At last, after many long delays, I’m really happy to say that Scarf Style 2 is finally available!
I was so pleased to be asked by Ann Budd to contribute a scarf design for this collection of innovative and traditional hand knitted scarfs and I had a lot of fun researching new ideas for my ‘Queenie’ design.
I drew a lot of inspiration from elaborately textured, patterned and embroidered English Elizabethan costume as well as Moroccan embroidery and silk designs from a similar period.
Quince & Co’s Chickadee yarn was lovely to work with and the shades available including Nasturtium, Pomegranate, Storm and Plum were perfect to echo the hot spice colours of the Moroccan textiles.
Queenie is knitted in the round in two sections with a three needle bind off and is a design that can easily be made shorter or longer and even knitted all in one to make a cowl…
There are many lovely designs in this book and in particular I would love to have the time to knit Pam Allen’s Cable-y Cowl (pictured above and knitted in Quince & Co’s Osprey in one of my favourite shades, Lichen) and the lovely Ilme’s Autumn Triangle shawl by Nancy Bush (perhaps in a natural soft grey though…)
