On a recent late evening walk I came across row upon row of tufts of sheep’s fleece that had been caught on a barbed wire fence. They stood out quite clearly in the twilight  and I couldn’t resist picking as many as I could carry.
Some of it is beautifully soft and clean and I think I shall try and use it for Thrums to ‘line’ a pair of mittens.

Thrums are short lengths of yarn, usually unspun, which are incorporated into the back of the knitting at various intervals thereby creating an extra insulating layer to the mittens, hats, socks or whatever project you are Thrumming.
