Fair Isle Style

I was lucky enough to be included in Mary Jane Mucklestone’s  new Fair Isle Style collection which features 20 fresh designs for a classic technique.

This is a great book with many very knitable designs and Babsie Bird, knitted in the ever wonderful Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper Weight Shetland Wool, is my contribution (and is currently to be found featuring on my home page!)

Babsie, inspired by the puffins and other seabirds that flit about the cliffs and meadows in the Shetland Islands, is knitted as flat pieces which are then sewn together and stuffed with pure sheep’s wool. When washed and sewn together she measures about 33cm long and 12.5cm high.

If there was more time in my day for knitting projects just for myself, I would reach for the needles and get started on Mary Jane’s Morroless Socks  (pictured above and also knitted in Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper Weight Shetland Wool), the Bressay Dress by Gudrun Johnston and the Lumesadu Gloves by Nancy Bush
