I am a knitwear designer-maker, author and tutor specialising in Northern, Scandinavian and Baltic hand knitting, nålbindning and crochet techniques. My work explores the beautiful old, traditional textile techniques, yarn and fascinating folk art of these areas.

Now living in the North of Ireland (NI), I design and make from my home and studio which are nestled among the beautiful drumlins of County Down in an area of outstanding natural beauty.


I studied constructed textiles specialising in hand and machine knit and over the years I have designed collections and original projects under my own label ‘Lucinda Guy Knitwear,’ worked collaboratively with various designers and been represented by leading outlets including: The Conran Shop, Paul Smith, Edina Ronay, Rowan Yarns and the British Crafts Council. I have written and designed ten books for adults and children for Rowan and Interweave, contributed designs to various textile and craft magazines including Laine Magazine and have taught workshops in England, Ireland and America.

Pure wool is always my preferred yarn for making as it has an aesthetic appeal unmatched by other fibres. Wool is warm, insulating, cosseting and durable and for centuries we have used it for the clothes that we wear right next to our skin to the carpets and rugs that we walk on. Wool remains as durable, sustainable and plentiful as ever - growing right on our doorsteps, in our fields and on our moors and mountains.
